Biography

Janeanne Gonzales is the Program Manager for the Mecklenburg County S.T.E.P. Program (Supervision, Treatment, Education and Prevention).  Ms. Gonzales oversees operations of six recovery courts which focus on treating substance use and mental health issues related to criminal involvement.  She is currently a co-chair of the Mecklenburg County Substance Use Disorder Task Force.  Ms. Gonzales has worked in the human service field for the past twenty-five years focusing on various “at-risk” populations.  In addition to the treatment courts, her background includes private practice in Marriage and Family Therapy, workforce/economic development, public housing, counseling in public high schools and juvenile detention centers.  She has served as a peer reviewer for the Office of Justice Programs, U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance, and Office of Juvenile Justice & Delinquency Prevention for the past 10 years.  She is a Certified Criminal Justice Addiction Professional and a Certified Court Administrator.  She holds a Master’s Degree in Marriage, Family and Child Counseling from Pacific Christian University in Fullerton, California, a Master’s Degree in Pupil Personnel Services from National University in Costa Mesa, California and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration.
