Biography

Juan was born in Quilmes, Argentina and came to the US at the age of 10. He has largely lived in NC since emigrating and has worked to support the Latinx community in North Carolina throughout his career. Juan received his PhD in clinical psychology from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro working under the guidance of Dr. Gabriela Livas Stein. His research and clinical practice focus has largely centered around understanding how Latinx culture impacts and can be harnessed in therapy to adapt evidence based therapies to address the impacts of culture and context on Latinx mental health. Currently, Juan serves as the Training Director at El Futuro, a mental health non-profit servicing the Latinx community in Durham. Through this position, Juan seeks to train El Futuro clinicians as well as providers across the state in implementing culturally responsive evidence based practices when working with the Latinx community.
