Biography

Geri Miller, Ph.D., LP, LCMHC, LCAS, CCS, is a Professor in the HPC Department at Appalachian State University. She has a Master Addiction Counselor (MAC) Credential from the National Certification Commission for Addiction Professionals (NCCAP). Dr. Miller has worked in the counseling profession since 1976 and in the addictions field since 1979. She has published two books on addiction counseling with Wiley Press:  Group Exercises for Addiction Counseling (2012) and Learning the Language of Addiction Counseling (5th ed.) (2021).

Carrie A. Mitchell, MSW, LCSW, LCAS Biography Carrie is a clinical social worker with the North Carolina Department of Safety – Adult Prisons Division. She is a mental health therapist within the NCDPS since 2013. She has been working as a therapist in the Sex Offenses Accountability and Responsibility (SOAR) rehabilitation program since 2017. Carrie works with adult men who have been convicted of committing a sexual offense(s) with the goal of providing them the tools needed to live healthy, acceptable lives, and create no more victims.
