Biography

Suzy is a lifelong learner who enjoys all things Brené Brown and the power of connection. She’s a clinician, wife, mom, Army brat, and Texan. She earned her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health from Wake Forest University and served on the board for the Military and Government Counseling Association of North Carolina. She is a dually licensed LCMHCA and LCASA and is pursuing her PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision at Liberty University.

She is passionate about her work at the Trauma Center at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, NC. She coordinates the adult and pediatric Trauma Survivors Network for the hospital that includes providing counseling for trauma patients and their families, recruiting, training, and coordinating peer visitors, providing refreshment and support for families in the ICU waiting room, and organizing and leading both in-person and virtual support groups for the adult and pediatric TSN groups. She is also the lead counselor for pediatric trauma and screens, assesses, and provides counseling and resources to all the pediatric trauma patients in Brenner’s Children’s Hospital.

When she is not working, she is organizing or re-decorating at home or at work; she believes that your space reflects who you are, and she strives to always create an inviting and relaxing environment for those around her.
