Biography

Barbara Melton, M.Ed., Licensed Professional Counselor, LPC Supervisor, Licensed Addictions Counselor, LAC Supervisor, National Certified Counselor, Master Addictions Counselor and APSC Clinical Supervisor (CS) has been in private practice in the Charleston area since 1991 and works with adult and adolescents; her specialty areas include working with trauma/loss, including PTSD, Borderline Personality Disorder, Bipolar Affective Disorder, and Self-Injurious Behavior. She has taught graduate level courses for Webster, Columbia College, Coastal Carolina and Webster University. She has also been a contract clinical supervisor at the Dorchester Alcohol & Drug Commission for almost 20 years. She has a wealth of experience with the more serious disorders as outlined in the DSM and has also served as Disaster Mental Health Lead for the local chapter of the American Red Cross for many years. She is also currently on the Ethics Committee for the Addictions Professionals of South Carolina.
