Biography

Chelsea Mitchell, MS, LCMHC, LCAS, NCC, VPP holds a Master of Science degree from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She serves as the Hospital-Based Violence Intervention Program (HBVIP) Coordinator/Counselor at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist (AHWFB), overseeing administrative operations. She performs screenings, assessments, and trauma-informed therapeutic support at the bedside to victims of violence and their families and collaborates with HBVIP Case Navigators to address ongoing needs. Chelsea facilitates the HBVIP Advisory Board, compiled of various community leaders, and engages with community organizations to create a continuum of care. Chelsea also serves as the Lead Counselor for Adult Trauma for the Advocacy, Recovery, Compassion, and Healing (ARCH) team within the Department of Surgery. She specializes in providing SBIRT (screening, brief intervention, and referral to treatment) counseling services within the hospital to address substance use and acute stress needs. She also sees patients in the Trauma Connection Supportive Care and Wellness Clinic at AHWFB to provide ongoing outpatient support. Chelsea assists in conducting department research to identify and analyze patient-oriented challenges and barriers to increase access to care.
