Biography

Kevin Rumley, LCSW, LCAS, CCS is a combat wounded (32 surgeries) Marine Corps veteran, receiving a Purple Heart for injuries sustained in combat. Kevin is also a person in long-term-recovery, remaining a vocal community advocate for harm reduction modalities, including medication assisted therapy (MAT) and Medication for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD). Kevin now serves as the Program Director for the Buncombe County Veterans Treatment Court (VTC), a diversion court for justice-involved veterans. Before that, he served with the Special Olympics of NC and 6 years at NC Brookhaven Behavioral Health’s Assertive Community Treatment Team.  It is here that Kevin came to appreciate the healing power of ‘the human connection’. Kevin is a NCSAPPB Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist, Certified Clinical Supervisor, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and IATP Certified Expert Trauma Professional. Kevin is in year-two of his Doctorate in Social Work at the University of Tennessee. Kevin just completed the Friday Fellowship (Class of 2022). Most recently, through his work at the courthouse, Kevin was inspired to become a volunteer Guardian Ad Litem (GAL), a court appointed special advocate for children that are in family court. In his free time, Kevin enjoys playing the drums in several different groups, including Tyler Ramsey (of Band of Horses), Her Marigold, and Bandazian.
